Luxury is not just about location its also about the feeling.
Our amazing bride was wearing tailor made designer wedding dress.
Successful Ibiza hair and makeup artist Kinga Evans was born in Poland, however these days she considers herself more of a citizen of the world. The self-confessed free spirit left her home country at the age of 20, spending more than a decade living, working and training in London before following her heart’s calling to call the white isle home in 2014, where she founded her own company Ibiza Hair & Makeup and began beautifying brides from all over the globe, in addition to working on fashion editorials and with private clients.
Kinga originally trained as a hairdresser more than 15 years ago and has spent time working in prestigious salons such as Toni & Guy in Kingston, however her ‘gypsy’ personality was never destined to spend long days on the salon floor. Her natural predilection for styling friends’ hair into glamorous up ‘dos for special events soon led her into the highly competitive field of weddings and since then, she has continued to update her training to include qualifications with the award-winning Lizzie Liros and the renowned Patrick Cameron, expanding her skills to cover styles to suit all hair types, face shapes and personal tastes.
Upon relocating to Ibiza, Kinga was surprised to learn just how many weddings took place here on the white isle and quickly established a reputation as a highly professional and creative stylist. It was a natural progression to becoming a makeup artist, as she realised her clients looked to her and trusted her to create their entire looks and thus she underwent subsequent trainings with Airbase Airbrushed and the highly acclaimed Uzarowicz Art Visage Academy in Warsaw, even further expanding her creative skillset.
“We used to come here religiously, every year,” Kinga explains, having first fallen in love with Ibiza (like many others before her) through her love of house music. “But I had never seen a wedding here before, so before we arrived I had been wondering whether I would be able to find enough work in Ibiza. Now it has totally exploded!” Fast-forward to today, and Kinga is now taking wedding bookings (among her other services) up to one year in advance, so in-demand are her services with island brides-to-be.
From the first point of contact, Kinga personally and expertly guides her clients through the process of designing their looks and building up the perfect package of services to suit their budget and event. Bridal hair, bridal make-up, trial runs, extra guests, extra services – absolutely anything can be incorporated. “It’s important for my brides to know they’re not speaking to a PR person or an assistant,” she explains of her ultra-personal philosophy. “We’re always chatting – it’s a long process from the first consultation until we meet face to face – so I can get to know their style and what they have in mind.”
After the initial consultations, Kinga creates bespoke bridal profiles based on conversations, Pinterest boards and her clients’ skin and hair types and colours. Based on her easygoing manner, ability to truly listen to what you’re after and combined with her extensive portfolio, it’s easy for Kinga’s clients to put their faith in her skills. “My brides often say that I help keep them calm,” she says. “I never panic (touch wood!), I’m very friendly and I think they feel they can trust me. We already know each other well by the wedding day so I can also take constructive advice very well. I want to know what works best for you.” She’s also been known to stock ultra hydrating masks in her kit to help soothe puffy skin in the case of tearful emergencies!
Speaking of beauty products, all brands used by Kinga and her team of senior stylists – who are all professionally qualified – are high-end and luxurious. “There’s nothing in my kit I wouldn’t use on myself,” Kinga laughs. Label M, Masterpiece by Bedhead, Loreal Techni-Art and Sirens are just a few of the names found within her hairdressing kit, while MAC, Estee Lauder and Airbase foundation are the stars of her make-up bag. “At Ibiza Hair and Makeup, beauty matters,” she quips. “We look after people with a lot of love and care for their skin and hair. Our reputation is very important to us.”
With three years of island weddings under her belt in addition to many more previous destination weddings, Kinga has seen hair and makeup trends come and go and has her finger firmly on the pulse when it comes to up and coming trends for her future brides. “Trends change depending on the nationality of the client,” she says. “What’s fashionable in England now might not be fashionable in Belgium or Russia, so I have to be really open minded and know a lot about international beauty.” Cutting-edge fashion magazines, Instagram and Pinterest are constant sources of inspiration, in addition to the work of famous hair and make-up artists from around the globe.
The Ibiza Hair & Makeup wedding services come complete with minute-by-minute time schedules, to ensure the big day runs smoothly and everyone (from stylists and the bride to her mum and bridesmaids!) knows where they need to be with no time wasted. “Weddings are a little bit different in Ibiza,” says Kinga of the day itself. “Everyone is so happy and excited to be here, and the brides always make me feel as though I am part of the family or a guest. It’s a laidback, fun atmosphere and always very elegant. Sometimes I have to pinch myself just to check I am really here!”
